Rate-Distortion and Outage Probability Analyses of Wyner-Ziv Systems over Multiple Access Channels

In this paper, we conduct rate-distortion and outage probability analyses for Wyner-Ziv (WZ) systems, where the information sequences from a source helper are transmitted to destination over block Rayleigh fading multiple access channels (MACs). This work has been motivated by decision-making aim is make right decisions based on observations. Hence, most critical performance metric accuracy of decisions, even allowing distortion in wireless transmission. A sufficient condition successful transmissions that WZ MAC regions intersect. For ease calculating probability, propose an approximated, yet accurate, rate region. The probabilities systems then evaluated both orthogonal transmissions. It shown transmission efficiency system with significantly improved compared Furthermore, helper-selection scheme introduced further reduce WZ-MAC systems. results show decreases, which decay corresponds (L+1)-order diversity L helpers small value range average signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), while it converges into as SNR becomes large.
